A well detailed figural wearing a large sombrero and wrapped in a serape or rebozo, is featured in this vintage 'book piece' brooch, circa 1940s/50s.
The three dimensional brooch consists of sterling silver and appears in the book, “Mexican Silver" by Penny Morrill, with the original pin having been designed by JMM Martinez in 1945.
It has fine details throughout including the bottom of the sandals as shown, and measures approximately 1 inch wide at its widest point by 1&1/2 inches high, weighs 8.5 grams, and marked “Sterling 925” and “Hecho en Mexico”.
