A representation of hope and faith is featured in this Victorian pressed horn brooch in the form of a Maltese cross and lifesaver (or wreath), circa 1850s.
The antique mourning pin or “memento mori” has a rich brown color and consists of pressed horn, in a layered three-dimensional design with textured details.
It measures approximately 1&5/8 inches in size, weighs 7.2 grams, and has handmade fittings in the form of an embedded tube hinge, pinstem, and c-catch.
