A ferocious mythological beast is featured in this well made vintage brooch and pendant by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, dated 1977.
The solidly cast museum brooch is a reproduction of an ancient design, and has a silvertone base and appears to be in the form of a griffin head, although possibly a dragon or raptor as well.
It measures approximately 1&5/8 inches wide by 1&1/2 inches high, has both a pinback and bail for use as a pendant if desired, weighs 24.2 grams and is marked “©MMA - 1977”.
