Vintage 40s Red Rhinestone Sterling Silver Deco Cocktail Brooch
Bright ruby red crystal stones set onto a swirl of stylized flower petals, are featured on this vintage Art Deco statement brooch made of sterling silver with some gold vermeil remaining, circa late 30s early 40s.
The sparkling cocktail brooch has the design features of McClelland Barclay, although it is unsigned, and is solidly cast from sterling silver, which had a gold vermeil at one time – and in the form of a high dimensional abstract flower stem, with petals of emerald cut Siam red crystal stones, fanned out into a half circle and swirled foliate pattern – set with clear faceted rhinestone trim, and a single red glass carbuncle at the base
It has riveted parts and measures approximately 1&5/8 inches wide at its widest point, by just under 3 inches high, weighs 31.2 grams, and is marked “Sterling”.
