So very distinct and modernist in appearance is this amazing sterling and turquoise vintage fish pendant, crafted by Navajo silversmith Neal Paquin of the Jemez Pueblo, circa 1980s.
The Native American Southwestern style pendant is hand wrought from sterling silver in what appears to be a stylized “flounder” fish with both eyes set to one side, along with decorative silver fluting and bezel set with three large geometric vibrant blue turquoise gemstones with faint caramel colored matrix.
The Indian pendant measures approximately 2 inches wide at its widest point by 2&3/4 in length from eyes to tail, has a shepherd’s hook style bail, weighs a hefty 43.3 grams, and is signed with the artist’s intitals of “NP” along with “Sterling”.
