A neoclassical Grecian scene featuring “The Muses Watering Pegasus on Mount Helikon” appears on this vintage gold and basaltware cameo by Wedgwood, from 1968.
The elegant combination brooch and pendant is round in shape and is based on Wedgwood’s black jasperware imitating ancient volcanic basalt, with contrasting bas relief in white, and bezel set in unmarked 9ct yellow gold with decorative ribbon twist frame.
It measures approximately 1&1/2 inches round, has both a pinback and hinged bail for use as a pendant if desired, weighs 13.0 grams, and is marked “Wedgwood”, “Made in England”, and what appears to be “S68”.
