Finely carved clusters of spheres in smooth and crepe designs, are featured on this antique Victorian black bog oak mourning brooch, circa 1880s.
The “memento mori” bar style pin consists of carved bog oak a.k.a. fossilized Irish peat, with a matte surface and high dimensional design, and embedded metal pinback.
It measures approximately 2 inches across, has an embedded tube hinge and c-catch, and weighs 5.0 grams.
