So handsomely made and solid in weight is this vintage Southwestern pendant by Navajo artist Josephine Benally, featuring American Royston turquoise, circa 1970s.
The large sized pendant consists of hand wrought sterling silver with crafted fittings comprising a wide triangular bail -- and bezel set with three lustrous cabs of Royston turquoise with rich moss green coloring and cream-caramel matrix, accented with incised details, wire twist braiding, and silver beading.
The drop portion of the pendant measures 1&1/2 inches wide and high, while the pendant in its entirety hangs approximately 2&1/2 inches, top to bottom. It weighs a considerable 29.3 grams and is signed “JB” and “Sterling”.
