This finely crafted vintage Taxco dragonfly brooch is a William Spratling reproduction, and features a combination of sterling silver and dark wood, circa 1980.
The sleek and modernist looking insect pin was designed by Spratling in the 1950s, and is attributed to Miguel Cisneros Arce Sr., who continued his product line under the “Suceseros de Spratling” silver shop.
It consists of sterling silver along with two wooden wings which have a sterling dot inlay and measures approximately 2&1/2 inches wide by about 2&1/4 inches in length, weighs 8.4 grams, and is marked “TD-103”, “Mexico”, and “925”.
